Emirates is cutting one of its daily Jakarta flights

Emirates is dropping one of its three daily flights between Dubai and Jakarta starting May 1, 2018 as it looks to reposition its capacity to other routes within its network. As of next month the carrier will no longer fly its EK368/EK369 flights, leaving travelers without an afternoon flight out of Dubai and a morning flight out of Jakarta. The outgoing EK368 is the last to depart Dubai of the three daily flights, taking off at 1840 and arriving in Jakarta the following morning at 0540, while the returning EK369 is a morning flight that leaves Jakarta at 0725 and arrives in Dubai at 1230.

KLM unveils new business class seat for B787-10

Dutch carrier KLM has unveiled its choice of business class seat for the airline’s forthcoming B787-10 Dreamliner aircraft. KLM has eight of the aircraft on order, and will be the first European carrier to take delivery of the longest variant of the Dreamliner series in June 2019. The airline says that the Venture seat – designed by Japanese firm Jamco – will be fitted in a fishbone configuration, giving direct aisle access to all business class passengers.

Features of the fully flat seat include an 18.5-inch IFE screen, a “Do Not Disturb” button on the armrest, and privacy partitions for middle seats. There will be a total of 38 of the new World Business Class seats on each of the carrier’s new B787-10 aircraft.

Malaysia Airlines unveils Facebook Messenger bookings

Malaysia Airlines has unveiled a series of new digital initiatives including a new Facebook Messenger bot that enables customers to make bookings, payments and retrieve flight information. According to the airline, the MHchat bot “delivers an experience just like with a real customer service agent”. Malaysia Airlines is the first carrier in Asia to enable customers to book and pay for flights through Facebook Messenger.

Tokyo is getting Singapore Airlines’ new regional business class

Travelers flying to Tokyo with Singapore Airlines will soon be able to book the airline’s new regional business class product, which is set to become available from May 18, 2018 when the airline deploys its new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft on the route.
